am i missing something?
« on: July 04, 2009, 02:00:44 pm »
Im picking away at the stuff i can to on the 73. Right now im getting the heating set up. Here is a pic of my problem

Am I missing anything between the defrost vents and the heater box? Or is it a thick seal?

Also I have a missing fuse, it comes off the junction box on the firewall and goes to the blower motor plug. What amp fuse is it? On the wiring sheets I printed from here it says 4 amps. Is that right or im looking in the wrong place?

edit: bad spelling :P

My 77 has the same defroster gap and I was wondering too. I worked hard to reposition it and got the gap almost eliminated. I had to laugh because when I started working under the dash, there was duct tape around it. When I pulled the tape off it looks just like your picture. I am not sure that duct tape is all that bad an idea. I didn't tape mine because the gap is about 1/8" now and I can live with a little leakage because I won't be driving mine in the winter.
Sorry, not sure about the wiring. I have no wire coming from the firewall block to my heater. Wires going to my heater all come from inside the cab. Maybe someone else can help you.

Dog, The gap is pretty much "normal" er, common. As mentioned, it can usually be closed up a little better than that, but not by much. On one of mine I put 3/4" stick on foam seal on top of the box when it was going together.
The White fuse holder is "non factory equipment", not sure what someone was doing with that. Also, in the last picture...Where does that wiring go to? I'm guessing it is unplugged in the photo? Lorne

The fuse holder goes to the blower relay. The truck did have factory AC if that makes a difference. The in the last picture, i pulled the harness through the firewall, thats all the wiring for the heater/ac.
