I have a friend that did this to his truck.  In my opinion it looks weird.  The Ac stuff I can see removing if not used...but the blower motor housing I'm not sure about.  But I guess it depends on what you do with the empty space or how you cover it.  His just has a piece of small gauge steel bolted over the hole.

Yes.  Its 12g steel.  Real thin.  Cut it and bolted it.

No.   I don't have any pics.  He didn't do the greatest job on it anyway.  Lol.

I got rid of the A/C but kept heat, bent, welded, riveted this eye sore under my hood...

I like this "eye sore" idea.  Did you use any part of the original a/c box, or just fab a total new box?
I need to keep the heater.  Drive this truck just about every day.

I literally used channel locks, chisels, a knife and a die grinder to cut back the A/C and heater box apart (because its all gummed onto the firewall) and removed the condensor but only cut the plastic/fiberglass outer shell back close enough to the blower housing that i could mould the eyesore to it, used some rtv as a sealer and riveted it right to the firewall!
