Looking fora Part, Upgrading radiator
« on: September 05, 2016, 12:59:13 pm »
I currently have a SBC radiator, I have a new radiator, fan shroud and mounting plate that goes to a BBC. These parts are all interchangeable for 73-79 trucks.

The issue i am running into is mounting the top plate that goes over the BBC radiator. I have holes for the bolts but there in nothing in the hole to properly fasten the bolts to ( i figure there would be a threaded insert of some sort.) My question is does anyone know where i can find these parts i need to mount this top radiator bracket?

Top panel : http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/TDP0/8673/7034P.oap?year=1978&make=Chevrolet&model=C10%2BPickup%2BRWD&vi=1030318&ck=Search_7034P_1030318_602&pt=7034P&ppt=C0095

4 holes where bolts are supposed to secure the top panel

Thanks

My front panel has 4 captured nuts, these would be welded in. I think the only solution fir your situation is a rivet nut/rivnut

Dumb question as I'm away from my square bodies at the moment (theyre at the other house), but, would some of the gm clips work for what you need? They come in varying diameter and we're used in the late 70s through 80s at least on areas like the core supports, fenders, bumper mount braces, etc.

Those wouldnt work, there would be no way to placed them inside the hole  and secure them in place. They would have to go into these holes.... http://dannix.net/public/pics/83k10chevy/frontclip/frontclip27.JPG
