R10?
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:13:54 am »
When browsing all the sites for parts, you see so many different names. R10, R20. V20 V30, ect ect. All i want to know is what my truck is. It is just your typical '87 half ton Sliverado with a 5.7 liter. Automatic. I realize it would not be S10 or any of the obvious ones, but maybe someone here could line out which is which, and for what years?

In 1987 our C/K trucks were renamed. R was 2wd and V was 4wd. The Blazer also dropped the K5 and was a V10. I don't believe they made any 2wd blazers anymore at that point anyway. None that I'm aware of. This continued to 1991 for pickups, blazers and Suburbans too. The new bodies got the C/K name

So if i have a half ton 2WD, it's an R10... correct? An R20 would be a 2WD 3/4 ton?

That's correct.  what messed with me when I first got my old '87 was the V10's.  I wanted to know where to get a V10 (engine)  chevy truck.... :P
