Delete the Vent Window??
« on: February 18, 2009, 08:03:51 pm »
Does anyone happen to sell a side window conversion? Meaning, can you delete the side vent window and have just a solid side window without the vent. <<If that makes since!?

Sorry, I’m new around  here and I didn’t come up with anything in a search!

FOR BOTH SIDES DUDE! IT'S STILL EXPENSIVE BUT THEY LOOK GOOD. YOU ALSO HAVE THE OPTION TO BUY "NEW" VENT WINDOW ASSEMBLIES.  THEY ARE FOR  A LITTLE LATER MODELS BUT FIT(the weatherstripping is a little wider) no big deal. I just installed a set in my '78.

^^^That's good to know. $675 for both is more like it...LOL!

I saw the replacement vent window on another site but I think I'm leaning towards making it solid. Kinda still up in the air.

There are a number of them on this link (company that makes the kit)

BTW, these are having delayed in shipping ( I dropped a 25 Group Buy on them ) BUT for the members here, I will knock off another $30 off ($50 off retail) if you order before the end of February (refunded after $675 purchase)

Thanks Chris,
And thanks for the pic link. I think after seeing some better shots I'm going to do this. I won't be in the market until a few month from now but I'll be picking some up for sure.

Possibly 2 weeks at the least.  Nobody has any though, The company that makes them has them patented, and supplies everyone with the kits.

I would like this particular window mod, but I dont think I have the tools or skills to pull it off. Could I take something like that to some local custom shop for installation, or is that a stupid idea? Like taking your own beef to a restaurant and asking for them to make you a burger...

also, will it work if you have the sport mirror inner reinforcement bracket installed?

I think anyone with basic tools and a few hours can do it. If you have no patience then yes take it to someone who can do it for you. If you like the way it looks which I am liking more and more I would go for it.

The kit was designed for most people to be able to install it.  If you can remove and install the stock glass, this should be just about the same, maybe a little harder.  Nothing can connect the inner and outer door skins, so the brake would have to be removed.
You could take it to a shop, but they probably would kill you on cost and would know no more about it than you would.

I was going to ask one more question but after looking at the install info....I got it. I was going to ask what was done with the reinforcement support
that crosses the lower horizontal opening. I see we are cutting it.

I just got done spending $400 buck on rear end pieces so......my next pay check or so.....I should be ordering this. I forgot I needed some rear end stuff first.
