hyd. clutch

ok, i have been trying to bleed the hyd. clutch on my truck and just cant seem to get all the air out of it. is there any special tricks that i should know. pump, hold to floor, crack bleeder valve, let air out, close valve then releae petal and start again, i have done that like 50 times and it still has air comming out when i open the valve. it worked fine before i pulled out the tranny to redo the clutch, now i cant get a stiff petal to save my butt :-(

push clutch to the floor, open bleeder to burp air, close bleeder, let up clutch and repeat.

Make sure all of your connections are tight. You can reverse bleed it using a syringe. Take the cap off the master and push new brake fluid through the bleeder. You may also use a vacuum pump bleeder on it.

after bleeding it some more i finally got it to the point were it can atleast go into gear if i push the petal all the way to the floor, still fells a little spongy, might just take it to the clutch dr. and let them bleed it.

oki, i believe i found the problem, i think the threads are messed up on the bleeder valve, trying to pump fluid back up through the bleeder just resulted in fluid leaking out around the screw, tried a vacuum pump and will not hold a vaccuum, just sucks air, so i reached up and played with the bleeder screw and it wobbled all over the place like there was only one thread holding it in, about to go take it off and do a beter examination after dinner of course

It might be a good time to replace the slave and master.

yup, that was the problem, got it out and about 80% of the threads are rusted out, not even sure how it sealed when i bought it, might have been the rust. o'well time to replace

oki, got new slave cylinder on and still had a misserable time bleeding so here is how i did it. the hydrolic hose did not look the best so i bought a new one. the old on i cut one end off and put a clear peice of hose on the end with a hose clamp., the other end i screwed in where the bleeder valve goes. (removed the bleeder screw). this way when i tightened it down i new there would be no chance of getting air inside. then since i new it was completly sealed i forced fluid back up through the system, then reveres it and pumped fluid through with the petal, then revered it again and forced fluid back up through again. then it took me a bit to figure out how to remove the hose and not get air into the system. what i did was put a plastic bag over the master cylinder and screwed down the lid, i was thinking like when i was a kid and put my finger over a straw and lift it up how it wont drain. so i basically did that and no fluid came out when i removed the hose, put bleeder screw back in and bingo clutch again.

 Gravety bleed then vacuum with a Mityvac is the way I bleed/flush

Mine ran dry after sitting for 3 years. I had to work the cluch fork by hand to get the big part of the air out. Once I did that, bled totally normal.
