Where to buy
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:02:17 am »
Ok so its hard to find a 33x12.50x16.5 tire period, let alone relatively cheap. Anyone have any suggestions where to buy online?

TIA,
Ben

Vile beat me to it. Tire Rack is probably the best place. Second would be Discount Tire www.tires.com

Although, it may be worth your while to put 16 inch wheels on it. There are WAY more brands available for 16's versus 16.5's, which means you can usually get them cheaper, too.

See http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/searchTiresBySize.do?r=CODINT|pc|80005&ar=75&rd=16&cs=285

Besides, 16.5's are a PITA if you ask me. They don't have a bead lip like a 15 or 16 does, so they tend to de-bead when run low on air (similar to truck tires). Have seen this a lot.

Just my $0.02.

Sorry guys...guess I should have been more specific, althought I do like the BFG's. Im looking for something with a little more agressive tread. I guess you ould say a mud terrain. And to be honest, the only time Im really worried about performance is on the boat ramp where its wet. This truck RARELY goes offroad. Im really just looking for a 'look'

More agressive, eh? BFG MT KM

http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/searchTiresBySize.do?r=CODINT|pc|80005&ar=1250&rd=16.5&cs=33

Or KM2, (although these are only in 15s or 16s... No 16.5s)

If you are looking for Bad Mudders, or equivalent cheapo Kelly-type tires, I don't think you can find them online anywhere. You'll have to go to a local tire shop and ask them. Stores like Discount, etc, do not carry them.

Something else I just thought of...

If you really want 16.5s, put a little lift under the truck and you'll be able to fit used HMMWV tires on it... Super-cheap, you can get them for like $300 per set.
