Blazer without removable top
« on: April 24, 2009, 07:58:52 am »
I brought this up years ago as I've seen listings for Blazer parts without removable top. I was just looking at brothers tailgate listing for 1981 and it says blazer without removable top. So what gives? Has anyone ever seen a solid top 1981 Blazer?

Ive seen a four door Blazer without the removeable top.... The guy called it a suburban ;D

Honestly, I have never seen or heard of a Blazer with the non removable top unless it was the S10 version.

Probably in reference to a Blazer that had a soft top instead of a fiberglass top, which was a truck tailgate.  All of them from the factory had removable tops.

Wasn't the hard top standard in 1981? I wonder why it's like double the price? Do you know anyone over there Chris? Maybe they have a pic of that gate so we can see what the difference is?

Early 70's Blazers could be ordered as strictly a "Utility" vehicle.  These came without a top and had a pickup style tailgate.  That may be what he's referring too.

The listing specifically says 1981 blazer without removable top.

It is most likely a typo.

Check in Choptop's back yard. If GM made it, he probably has one.

This was not for a for sale vehicle. It was specifically a parts vendor listing who had a seperate listing for a one year only tailgate for use with non removable top.

I've seen a few conversions done by using the roof of a suburban, but never heard of it as being an option.

An old topic, i know but I believe hardtop Blazers were sold in Latin America. There were some strange trucks sold there...
