300hp 327 worth?
« on: April 27, 2009, 06:51:31 pm »
I have a guy around here who wants to buy an engine from me, so I'm wondering what you guys think it would be worth.  It was bought for a '54 hudson my dad used to have but it never did pan out because he put his effort into his old mustang instead.

It's a small journal 300HP 327 out of a '63 Impala.  It has a forged crank.  My dad had all the machine work done back in 1977 and it has been sitting since so it will probably need all the machine work done again but the block checked out good back then.

I have the block (stripped and cleaned inside and out in 1977)
forged crank
rods with pistons fitted to it when it was machined
heads (need rework but have rocker arms and valves)
valve covers
stock 4bbl intake with oil fill tube and stock 4 bbl carb
stock distributor
timing cover
oil pan
harmonic balancer
rams horn exhaust manifolds
flexplate
road draft tube
Old water pump and water pump and crank pulleys.
Both alternator brackets

Here's a block pic.  The machine work ought to be fine because every few years when the grease dries out I clean it and regrease it.  It's not been sealed in a bag for about a year or so but the grease is good. but theres some rust in a couple of the main caps where the bearing goes.

Most of the other stuff (ignore the holley just sitting there)

What do you guys think the whole thing would be worth?

I would start high and see what you can get. There may be someone looking for just what you have. Try $1200 bucks. To me a 327 apart is worth $2-300 bucks if it's solid. So start high you can always drop the price.

I think the 3 duece intake would bring that by itself. If it doesnt, let me know. I would love to have that intake setup. If he-ll only give you $300 for the motor, Id give $300 for the intake setup, so $600 for all minumum

I am in the same range.  In fact I am starting to get rid of all my old blocks.  I have a 327 large journal though, but I plan to put $300 on it.
I think the intake could bring at least $300. so all of it $800 min.
