Would really like to ....
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:35:32 pm »
take a peek under your hood. Guess with me, it has always been the mystery of what is tucked away under that sheet of metal. Just by nosing around in someones engine bay, I have seen and used many ideas to enhance the appearance of mine.Thought is would help me or someone else see something that wasn't thought of or overlooked. Alot of interesting ideas out there to pick up on that can apply to any one of us, from the obvious to the very suttle. I know y'all should have all kinds of pics, so post them up. Don't matter whether it's appearance is bone stock or all dressed up, six or eight cylinder, clean or dirty. Maybe even what you had to what you have now. So open up them hoods. Since I don't have one on, it is not to hard to look at.

Thanks...Joe

Here is my 330 hp 350 in my 84 stepside. In a couple of these you can see the smoothed inner fenders.

Only thing I have are pics of Oldyellers truck. The First two are cool to me because at the time they were taken, the engine had over 275000 miles on it.
The next one is the new 468 that is in it now. Not much to look at, but sure fun to drive

Great pictures/setups!! I especially like oldwhity's. Just love how the rust is flowing down the firewall. It is truly amazing how these trucks keep on tickin' despite the slow "cancer" eating away at them. Love it. Keep the pics coming. My truck had the luxury of the previous owner doing some rattle can undercoating on the firewall so it is going to be stripped.

Old pic before I upgraded my fuel line:

Upgraded fuel line and my Mallory HEI is visible too:

I have to clean up some plumbing, namely the heater hoses, then plug wires and that PCV hose. The most 'custom' thing I've done on mine is paint the K&N logo on the air cleaner and the Dart logo on the valve covers in matching yellow to the truck.

To those who have small blocks and headers, what headers are you using and how well do they fit?
85 Chevy Silverado C10 short, wide, yellow, 2wd. Lowered, 60-over 350 with Dart Iron Eagle heads and Comp Cams XE268 cam, TH350 w/ shift kit, 3.40 Gov-lok 12 bolt.

Nice stuff guys!!! Thanks for responding and hope to see more. I have already seen something that I need to use on mine, such as the hose separators on the heater hoses. But in my case, I need them to clean up my bundle of fuel lines. Like I have said, it's the small details that are easy to over look until it's seen on someone else's setup. For the "older originals", leave them as they are. As with most things, age just adds a little character and a witness to the test of time. Sooo, keep'um comin'!!

These came with my hydroboost system kit.  They work well and look nice.  But if you can find 1/2" thick aluminum bar stock at the hardware store you can make your own very easily and for alot less.
