Unlimited is the only one I know of that made a tall cowl hood. It's a 6" I believe and is fiberglass. We just had a thread on hoods

FYI, last hood I know of that was bought by a 73-87 owner reinforced my original opinion that they are far from quality pieces.

US Body makes a 4" cowl for our trucks. Fiberglass though, although they are reported to be a quality item.

Are you talking about the Unlimited hood? That was probably me because the fitment was so unsquare it's sitting upstairs in my garage and I won't even sell it to anyone unless It's a beater truck they don't care about.

Nope, wasn't you Vile, someone local to me that I warned them not to get it, did it anyway.  Bodyshop wanted about half the cost to fix it.

Is fiberglass going to be strong enough for the hinges though?

Generally you have to take the springs out of the hinges on the 73-80 trucks for use with fiberglass on the Unlimited stuff.
Other companies you can use the factory setup.
