Small Block Intakes and carbs

So I pulled the air cleaner off my new truck tonight, an 84 C10 and was surprise to see a baby carb sitting on there. It looks like a 1 barrel but I'm sure it's a 2... I've never actually worked with anything but a 4.
Here's the interesting part. The truck came to life as a 4.1L but somewhere along its life it was given a small block which I'm quite sure is a 305 but could be a 350.  The new engine is a pre-78 with dipstick on drivers side but I don't know if its the correct manifold on there because I have what looks to be an EGR valve and other emissions items.

What I want to know is if I can take the intake off of my other truck, 82 K20 with a 350 and 4 barrel and just swap it right onto the new truck.  The 82 has no emissions and an electric choke, the 84 has a manual choke. 

So would the manifold and carb bolt right on to the heads and what about the emissions items, also the 82 has 2 lines out of the tank and the 84 has 3 I believe.

Or could I just swap carbs if that was easier?

If it's a 2bbl intake and you want to put a 4bbl carb on you'd have to buy an adapter. Personally I would just swap on a new intake and carb and do it right though. Yes they will bolt right up.

Yes, you have a 2 barrel;  A Rochester 2G.  i'm not sure if it's a 2GV or a 2GC but that's not important now.

Yes, as Mr. Vile pointed out, the 4barrel manifold + quadrajet (i'm ASSuming it's a quadrajet) from the 82 will bolt right up to your engine.

2) Emissions items etc.
a) Do you have emissions testing where you're at?

b) Just curious if the truck runs ok right now?

Here in goold ol quebec we have no inspections or emsissions testing.

The truck doesnt seem to run all that bad but my 4 barrel quadraket is supposed to be easier on gas plus it has an elctric choke, I dont care for the manual one on the new truck right now

Plus the 4 barrel was just rebuilt last year.


I was told I would have to take the throttle cable off of the 82 to go witht he carb, any truth to that?

You should be able to use the same throttle cable as mine originally came with the quadrajet also until recently (long story) and this orange engine you see here was in the truck 2 yrs ago for a little while(another long story) so i know they(the carbs and existing throttle cable) are interchangable.   Since you've got the 2G carb in there now and the throttle works no problem, it should also be able to operate the quadrajet even though your truck originally came with the straight 6. So maybe the existing throttle cable is designed to work with all three configurations?

Yeah, the quadrajet will probably be better on gas.  i've got my own reasons for running this 2G carb for now which i'll get into as soon as my problem is taken care of.

OK, now i need your help;

a) When engine cold?    (sitting for more than 2 hours since last run)


b) When engine warm?   (less than 2 hours since last run)

A - With engine cold I would crank the engibe for a second then pump the throttle while cranking till seh started.

B - When she had run in the last few hours I would just touch the key and she would fire right up.

 Steward, as in using the choke?
I used to do, a) pull out all the way and push in slightly and start. But all the older stuff I have and had that has a manual choke they all are a little different on how much choke the engine wants.
Warm engine no choke. Or very little depends on how good the carb is.

I probably should of mentioned that I never used the choke because it would jam every time so that could change things.

What exactly is yours doing? or not doing as the case may be.
