New headache, well part of an old one

Well I was replacing my oil pan and while removing the last felpro snap up from the front right corner it broke in the block .

I have no room to get a drill in there and I cant seem to get anything else to break through the plastc... I tried heating a pick and melting it but that didnt work,.

Any ideas?

Do you have a right angle drill? That'll be your best bet. If not you can try and use a self tapping screw and an 1/4" drive air ratchet to break it up. Screw it in and screw it out then run a tap up in the hole to clean it out.

No air tools here, lucky me.  I tried a self tapper but with the confines space I wasnt able to get it to bite with a hand ratchet, I borrowed a right angle electric drill anf going to give that a go in a few minutes.

Jay I'd like to offer some advice if I could, but I don't understand those Two sentences. Maybe try wording it a little different. Lorne

Lorne he snapped off a plastic screw used to retain the pan gasket to make putting the pan up easier.

This may sound a little crude, but can you jab it with a small sharp flathead screw driver and unscrew it that way?  I recently installed the same gasket on my truck, so I know exactly what you're talking about.  If I recall correctly the plastic isn't very hard or brittle, so this might work.

I tried cold screwdrivers and very hot ones to no avail.  I took the rest of the bolts out and re-dropped the pan then took a right angle drill with a drill bit i cut down to 1.5 inches and just squeezed it in there, cleaned out the darn plastic then took a tap and cleaned the holes. I put the pan back up then got most of the bolts in before I lost light and the mosquitos came out.
So hopefully tomoro night finish the pan, fill her up check for leaks then put the shield back on the flywheel. Then onto the valve covers lol,

Off comes the heat riser :)
