What we did for Memorial day.
« on: May 25, 2009, 10:56:52 pm »
Or the whole weekend!!!

Today I took my mom to spruce up my fathers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, & great uncles graves. My father was a Navy See Bee WWII. my mothers mother was an Army nurse WWII, & uncle was an Air Force recon photographer in a bomber WWII. Raised my great grandmothers stone while I was there too. While we where there the American Legion arived ,and held a small ceremony. Then I took mom out to a late breakfast. Came home rototilled the garden. Was going to weed whack but the rototiller kinda kicked my but! So I put the seat in the 86 and tried to figure out why the fuel gage doesn't work.

Yesterday I went and pillaged a 55 in the woods. Brought home the roof, entire firwall with clutch, brake pedals, spedo / gages / entire Dash board, etc. the rear window, some stainless trim, and the rearend.

Saturday I made a scrap run, did the birthday thing for my mom at my sisters house.

Not as cool as yours. I mowed the lawn (about 1-1/2 acres) and then dug up mesquite in the north feild. My grandpa served in WWII, and my uncles all served in Veitnam. Dont have any of them around anymore, but still remember some of the stories. My best friend just got back from Iraq, and will be in New York till september then he will be in Louisianna until his next deployment. He's a Calvary Scout in the Army.

Yard-work all day today.  Finished skinning the bottom 6 feet of my 6 remaining pines and burned a big brush pile.  Finished the winter clean-up with the oak leaves, filled my home made trac-vac full.  Cut the front and back yard as well.  Washed the 85 and my wife's Sable. My son was a big help in getting it all done.  Yesterday was a trip to Autozone for an idle air control valve for my son's Taurus and put a cruise control module on while the hood was up.  After 4 years, finally put the knobs on the kitchen cabinets, still need longer screws for the drawers.  Sold our piano and went to my brother's house for dinner and the rained out Coke 600.  Saturday I piddled out in the garage, while Friday night I sold my 5.7L 91 truck engine.  Great weather with the exception of a little rain today.

saturday, cut/split/stacked roughly 4 chord of firewood, mowed the lawn (3 acres), then hit up the local watering hole for some refreshments.   sunday,  planted the garden (25x40), replaced the shocks and fuel filter on my 01, cleaned out the garage a little.  man does stuff pile  up fast, i just cleaned it out 3 months ago and i had another full truckload to take to the dump.  went out  to the local watering hole with some friends.   monday, golf in the monring (6:00 tee times, my first year coordinating the Milkman's classic golf tournament, shot a 98 :( )  then a big barbeque, small fishing derby for the kids on the back pond. and i thought this was going to be a relaxing weekend, boy was i wrong!!!

hope  everyone else had a great weekend, and a salute to all our fallen brothers that have served for our country.

I went trail riding in the pickup, I also brought along the kids Power Wheels Jeep and let them play also. I have some pics will try and get them up later. We all had a good time I got hung up twice once on a stump going down hill and slighty bent the t-rod. Later that night I tried going thru a sharp deep valley and the rear bumper and hitch humg me up.

Well basically I went riding with a few friends. Came home and parked the bike. I had a friend who was at a bar and too drunk to drive so I went to pick up. I wasn't in there but 30 seconds and some drunk clown got up in my face so I put him in his place. A few minutes later his pal came over with the whole you mess with him you mess with me deal in which I told him was fine and to put it nicely they backed down. A few minutes later some crazy drunk lady got all up in my face saying I hit her lol and started pushing into me. Nevertheless I was just like ok time to go, this is getting ridiculous. So as I was trying to leave another guy got in my face and at this point I had 3 of them and one crazy lady lookin for a fight so I said bring it. I took on the 3 of em and one pulled a knife. While I was handling the situation quite well this loser came around the other side and hit me in the left side of my head and sliced my ear. Once that happened they all dispersed back into the bar. I followed back in and grabbed a bunch of napkins off the bar and sopped up the blood. I threw it at the loser and said here's your souvenir. I ended up getting 7 stitches to put my ear back together. No good deed goes unpunished? lol I reported it to the cops and the cop never followed up. since the cops didn't follow through I'm going to have to round up my pals and do a little vigilante justice I think. Don't look if you don't like blood

Ouch!!! I always thought you went out drinking to have fun, but was always able to find the idiots who thought they were super heros and wanted to fight. They really ruin the fun. Last guy who cut me with a knife got the recieving end of a 2x4. Needless to say , I broke a few things. I was raised that if you were gonna fight, it's hand to hand, fist to fist, but if they pull a weapon, there is no more fair play or mercy. Thank God I havent had to deal with that kinda crap in years, and really dont miss it.
I am glad your cut isnt worse, it could have been. I can imagine it doesnt feel very well.
