Late last night I was crusing down the highway when I started feeling a small vibration.  It grew quickly so I pulled over.  The engine was running really rough and then just stopped.  When I tried starting it again it wouldn't turn over.  It was hard to tell in the dark but there was a big puddle of something that I think was oil.  I'm guessing it means the engine is seized?  My freind's dad is gonna help me retrieve my truck today and he knows a guy selling an engine and a 4 speed tranny and he's gonna help me put them in.  Let this be a lesson to all, don't skip maintainence!

Will do.  I know the starter works fine, I fell it trying to crank but it seems like the flywheel won't move.  Once we can get it to his garage we'll know better.

When you try n crank it is just a click or? You didnt hear a bang or anything correct??? I locked up the engine in my 82 reagal once all the warning lights came on everything went bright and then it shut off and dies right in front of my driveway... Darn 3.8 v6 engines.. Now be a good time to pressurewash and clean the engine compartment while the engine is out and paint it...

When I tried to crank I could feel a slight bit of torque, like the starter was connecting and trying to turn but the engine was stopping it.  And I don't remember any kind of "bang", it just rattled and stopped.

you could have hydra-locked it.  Pull the plugs out and see if it turns over.

I assume you mean spark plugs, yeah?  And turn it over with the ignition or manually like Vile suggested?
Anyway we rescued my truck yesterday afternoon.  I didn't see any oil so it must have been coolant that I lost, though I checked the dipstick and my oil was super low.  I'll try turning it over again but otherwise I guess I'm gonna start on removing the engine.

You should do a failure analysis before you pull it.

A freind had a truck years ago that did something similar. Come to find out, the bolts had backed out of the flexplate and lodged against the bell housing. Definately do some troubkeshooting. It may be less damage than you think

to go with what Chris said it almost does sound like a hydra-lock problem maybe cracked head/gasket let coolent leak into the cylinder and you started to miss the first sign of trouble you had then it just filled up to much with water and cant compress it causing it to lock up the problem you have now

Turn it over by hand with the plugs out.  Don't try to crank it with the starter until you are sure it will actually turn...
