i have a person that wants to sell a 12t axle out of a 4 x 4,axles have 6 lugs..can i just swap my 12t 2 wheel drive 5 lug axles into this 4 x 4 rear?reason is his is stock limited slip with a 3:73 gear set, would be cheaper than new eaton and gearset with rebuild kit,has receipts of being rebuilt 2 yrs ago and an old man so dont think he was abusive (i probably will be though

You mean 1/2 ton? If their the same axle assemblies the shafts will swap.

One thing to keep in mind, if it's a stock "limited slip" from anything newer than about 1975, you are not comparing apples to apples. It may serve your perpose however a Gov lock is not near as strong or as good working as an Eaton unit. Lorne
