Headlight Problem
« on: June 12, 2009, 08:30:11 am »
On my 81 c-30 the dim lights work just fine but when brights are on sometimes they flash on and off like not a good connection but as soon as you but it on dim again everything works fine I have looked for ground problems and didnt know if this has happen to anyone or can it be just the dimmer switch?

On a 1982 I had did the same.  I replaced the dimmer switch and the problem was gone.  I found a windshield leak corroded the plug and switch.  I later put a 1984 tilt column in it and rewired the dimmer switch to the column.

I'd look at the dimmer switch first, but don't rule out a busted wire or anything else.  Mine turned out to be the bulkhead connector. (where the harness passes through the firewall)

do both lights flash or just one, do they flash when you hit a bump or when ever it feels like it. iv had one flash due to the wires at the bulb being bad

X2 on the dimmer switch.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs
