Saving another one!

Started this project a few days ago. 83 Cab on a 76 Chassis. Second time around for this one. I patched the drivers floor, put inner, and outer rockers, Cab corners, inner fenders, outer fenders, & doors on it about 12 years ago. His brother inlaw owns it now, getting it in primer, and he is going to paint it himself.

Everything but the cab support, and mount cut out.




Clamps in place to pull cab back together. Door opening was 7/8" wider than the right hand side. Cab had spread open so the latch was trying to catch the nob on the end of the sticker bolt!


Cofin hoist works good here. I have a pull ram for my porta power but the fiting is snapped off in the side of it.






New outer rocker screwed in place.


Now I can cut out the mount, and replace it.

I'm impressed with some of the projects that you and others have pulled off.
Just curious as to the time it would take you to fix this cab vs. doing a cab swap.

Not my truck, he wants it fixed so I am fixing it. RH side wasn't to bad, 12" x 14" floor patch right over the cab mount, inner rocker, the lower outer rocker, and about 5" of cab corner.
I will have about 15 / 25 hours into fixing it. No matter what you find for a cab they will need work!
Why would I drop the tank?

Why would I drop the tank?

I dont like anything that can make gas explode near a tank :)

Been doing this for 20 plus years have never dropped a tank unless it had a leak.

i understand what both of you are saying i would drop it if i could smell gas and fix that problem but if no smell of seeing gas then all is good
