Lug nut suggestions - Americian Racing "Python" wheels
« on: June 28, 2009, 05:52:29 pm »
I recently picked up a set of used American Racing 16x8 Python wheels, less the lug nuts. Wheels require XXL long acorn lugs  (maybe even 2.5").  9/16-18 conical, 60 degree ...32 needed.  I'd rather not use "tuner style" lugs if possible.  2" tall lugs seem common,  but finding longer, ... is becoming a chore.  Anyone else out there, running these wheels? Appreciate suggestions and sources.  Thanks.  Wheel pic:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/10058179@N05/sets/72157620552315531

why do you need extra long ones?

Until earlier, the only lugs I could locate were 13/16 or 7/8", ..and those sockets are too wide for the recessed holes. So, I figured XL lugs, ... would extend  beyond the wheel recess enough to slide on a socket.  But, I have since found a set of 9/16 -18, 2.32" tall lugs, with 3/4" hex.  A 3/4" impact socket will clear the recesses, plus the added length will make it easier to "handle" the lugs, with the big center caps.
