Alternator and A/C condenser
« on: July 02, 2009, 05:45:33 pm »
Is there any reason I can't switch the position of my A/C condenser and my alternator?  I would like to eliminate the A/C lines from crossing over the engine.  I have had Chevs with the condenser on the passenger side, so I would think a bracket would be available.  The truck is a 78 2 wheel drive with a 350.  -  Thanks!

So you want your alternator in front of the radiator and your condensor where your alternator goes? I think you might mean compressor otherwise I'm lost.

Ya, I'm sure he means compressor.

Of course it can be done. Not sure about stock brackets, but customizing is always fun.

Ya, I stumped him - but he's right again.  I meant the compressor, not the condenser.   Hey, I'm only a truck driver, ya have to give me a break!!  OK Vile, any reason it can't or shouldn't be done?  Thanks!

As long as you have the bracketry and lines no problem at all!

one of the custom AC companies i was looking at recently had the bracketry to do just that, i cant remember which it was, either vintage-air or one like it, they had the brackets  and everything in the complete kit. I cannot afford the setup right now, but one of these days ill pick up one lol.
