hi guys. my truck has been leaking tranny fluid for about 2 years now, replaced pan gasket and dipstick tube and still leaks. so took off the inspection cover and decided it was the front pump seal. i pulled the trans and to my amazement i couldnt believe what the torque converter shaft( part that goes into the bushing) and bushing for front oil pump(looks like bearing race.) looked like. showing lots of wear which baffles me,cause i only have like 25 000kms on this rebuilt tranny. im guessing the shaft and bushing should be a nice, smooth surface right? which leads me to beileve i got ripped off with a used tq conv. or even tranny itself. so now i need a front pump bushing, tq converter, and pump to case o-ring.
I guess my main concerns are 1) is this a hard job to get that bushing out? any special tricks?
2) do i want a 2000 or 2400 stall converter- truck is 84 sierra c-15, 350ci, stock cam, swirlport heads with mild work, intake, headers, among various other small do-dads.rear-end =3.08 and weighs about 4100lbs with me in it.
sorry for the long post but any input will be muchly appreciated-thanks jeff
