Can u help me
« on: July 20, 2009, 09:30:03 pm »
I have a 87 1 ton 350 v8 Fi ok when I went muddin last week and when I hit a mud pit and my motor just died. And it would not crank after that I got it out and took the air cleaner off and let it dry. I went to take the d cap and I  relived I could move it left and right. So the timing was going to be off. I messed with it and got it to run . The next day I put new plugs and wires and d cap and rotor and got the timing where it's post to be but when I go to take off in frist gear the motor wants to cut off so I have give it a lot gas just to start going but after that it's fine it's only in my starts  and I clean the carb with carb cleaner  if u help me thanks alot

Some of this is really hard to read, there is a spellcheck at the bottom in the post, but...

How did you set the timing?  Is there a vacuum leak?

Timing has to be set on a TBI with the EST wire unplugged.

You need to clarify your post a little. You have an 87 TBI fuel injected V8 350 with a carburetor  ???

-So do you have a carburetor or tbi?

You relived your distributor cap left to right?

-not sure what this means. Does your distributor move or is the cap loose?

EST is electronic spark timing. In order to put the spark advance in bypass mode to set initial timing you need to unplug the est connector brown/tan wire near the bottom of the master cylinder.
