Best way to Remove a Cab
« on: July 25, 2009, 10:35:51 am »
Hello,
What is the best way to remove a CAB ? I cant get 6 people over to help !
I'm thinking about using 2 cherry pickers one on each side of the cab. But I wanted to know what others have used or done to remove a cab.

My project is a 1976 GMC SIERRA  short bed fleet side and a 1979 GMC SIERRA street coupe . I,m going to put the 79 body on the 76 frame . The 79 only needs one rocker panel I was shocked when I saw this truck cause it was not rusted out.

And can anyone tell me how many of these Street Coupe's were made in 79 ?

I will get some photos up as soon as I find my USB cable !

Thanks for the help.

Me personally I prefer a forklift, or a backhoe. But when i did it at my buddies shop * he had none of that stuff* we used two pickers and ran those big nylon straps from one side to the other and picked up on the straps. Kind of like what i did with the straps here with my forklift onluy i used 2 cherry pickers with my buddy. http://forum.73-87chevytrucks.com/smforum/index.php?topic=11944.15

or you can jack it up off the frame and set 4 50 gal drums with 4x4 or 2x4 wood planks to hold it up
