Nice to see a street coupe on here.  are you going to "restore" it?

What is wrong with the 79 frame?

The 79 street coupe frame is good , But I done some work on a truck for some one and they could not pay me . So I said I would take the truck for the payment , He said he wanted the frame for a project. I thought will thats fine I have a frame . I got the bed , new tailgate , cab new doors , front end . I think I come out good when all I done was put a fuel pump in a 99 ranger , and front brakes.

want to ask a question. should I put the A/C back on the truck are take it off.
I have all the A/C parts.

YES, I'm 100% pure HANK fan.

Keep the A/C.  Honestly I wouldn't veer to far off with a Street Coupe.  Personally I would keep the Street Coupe frame for the matching VIN.  These are one of the rarest of the rare in these models.  I would give up the 76 frame.  Of course it is your truck....

I know the Street Coupe is a rare truck . But I'm using parts off 2 trucks. 79 Street Coupe , 76 GMC .
I'm building this truck cause the 76 was my grandfather's truck . So I will use the vin off the 76.
And as for the street coupe I know matching numbers means a lot to some people. But I don't have the correct engine  or trans for that truck. (don't know if they were marked)

Now ,if I was building a 1970 RoadRunner is I would want matching numbers .
But on this truck I don't care , Not being a ass . I'm not a Chevy man , and the only reason I'm doing this truck is cause my grandfather left me his truck . And before he passed away he ask me to fix the truck up.

The Truck is about ready to go in the shop for body work.
Were could I get some paint chips ? I don't know what color I want to paint the truck.

I was just saying a Street Coupe would hold more value that's all.  It isn't so much the matching numbers as far as drivetrain that will add the value, it is the Rare RPO, the VIN and the paint/stickers that make it valuable.  Being a 79, the engine/trans could be found to match, etc...   BUT, it is yours, I am just happy to see it restored..

For the paint, I would check the the local paint stores and get a sample book.

well I have no local paint stores.
is there a good site on the net were I could get some paint samples / chips / chart ?

I agree the street coupe would have a better value. and I did try to buy the frame from the guy but he wanted that frame . If I could have got the complete truck I would have fixed it back as a street coupe.
and then sold the truck.

By the way how many street coupes were made in 79.

Unfortunately I can't get a number from GM, but there weren't a lot of them.

For original paint, you can to here: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/acl_files/Chevrolettruck.html

Just select the year.  Keep in mind these are original color charts.

Nice build, but what exactly is a street coupe??
77 c-10 - 77 400 86 700r4 "Emmy"
83 citation - 2.5L Four on the Floor!
88 sierra - reman 350 700r4 "Eleanor"
All normal practicality and rational money handling goes out of the window when it comes to my truck.
