Saw a real rare muscle car yesterday. (I know, I know..it's a Mopar)

Yesterday, I got to take a look at the rarest muscle car I've ever seen.
I work at a Chevrolet dealership that sits where a Dodge dealership used to be in the late 60's. About 3 years ago, a Canadian gentleman walked into the showroom looking for some info. He let us know that he was on a fact finding mission about a classic car that came from this address in 1969. I immediatley went and got Dave, a salesman grew up in this area and has been selling Chevrolets since 1970. He was familiar with the old Dodge dealer that used to be here and even recalls knowing some of the people who worked there. Dave went to the Canadian and asked, "what kind of car was it?" The Canadian replied "A 1969 Charger 500". Dave then asked..."was it black with a red interior?" The Canadian gasped.."You know the car!!" David replied that he remembered that car sitting on the lot for months. "Nobody whould go near that thing...red guts in a Charger, everybody around here thought that was hideous back then." Dave then asked"I wonder whatever happened to that car?"
The Canadian went on to tell us that this car was repossessed by Chrysler and brought to a dealer in Darien Center NY in 1969. He explained that the owner of the store kept the car for himself until he bought the car from him. The Canadian knew this was a rare find but didn't know just how rare it really was.
The car I'm talking about is not only a Hemi/Automatic car, but it is the only 69 Charger 500 that was built with black paint and red interior. The car also featured a red stripe and whitewall tires. Oh, and let me mention that this car has NEVER BEEN REGISTERED OR TITLED AND ONLY HAD 1,700 MILES!!!
Anyhow, fast forward to today when that very Canadian man stopped by the dealership again on his way home from the Mopar Nats in Columbus to show us the car. It was amazing to see a true one-of-a-kind survivor. I only wish I had my camera with me. The car looked like it was in very nice shape. I couldn't see it very well since it was in an enclosed trailer.
As soon as I got home from work today I went online and found an article about this very car.

My first car was a 76 Plymouth Duster.  I've been looking for a decent 73-74 in my price range.  To many rotted away and the prices are out of site.

Investment wise it may have been a smart (or lucky) move but how much fun is it to own a car that you never get to drive? I've owned a few 69 camaros over the years along with corvettes (86,92,and 98) I can't imagine I would have gotten any enjoyment out of them if I never drove them.

Wow!   $5k in '89.  '89 was the year I bought my '65 GT Mustang Convertible and I paid $7k for it!!   I have a few more miles on it than the Hemi (i took it off the road in the early '90's and she's been in my garage ever since), but still 99% original from the original owner.  I can imagine them both at Barrett-Jackson, the Hemi; sold $400k.   My mustang?  not exactly 1 of 392 like the '69 Charger 500, even though they made only 1900 GT convertibles in '65, no where in the same universe.

There's something about the year '69.  I love the '69 Camaro.  My favorite car ever has been the '69 Boss 429 Mustang--which, like the '69 Charger 500 was built for NASCAR, as was the '70 Boss 429. They had to make and sell 500 to the general public as per NASCAR rules to qualify as a "production" car.  Those things are so beautiful.  I'd remortgage my house, sell my convertibe, suburban and pickup to find a fixer upper of one of those.
 
Great story.  I like those things.  Too bad you didn't have your camera, but, I bet you could go to any annual Hemi show and see it.

I generally only buy Chevy's, but I also have another passion, I collect RoadRunner & Coyote stuff.  I would own a Super Bird in a heartbeat.

I don't think they divulged the price.  I believe it only said that the buyer offered $5,000 less than the agreed price.

I forgot to mention that the buyer who tried to re-neg the deal was Reggie Jackson. It doesn't mention that in the article, but that's what the owner of the car told me.

my bad.   I read it wrong.  I wonder how much he paid. 

I was wondering which athlete it was.  Reggie....hmmmm, I guess he got what he deserved.  But, how many cars was he successful in buying "his" way of doing things?

1) Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on the T-37 or GT-37?   (if you don't know what they are, then this can be an indicator of how rare they are)  And other bare bones muscle cars?

These types of "bare bones" muscle cars are my favorites and i actually prefer them over the "full-fledged", over-the-top cars such as the gto, chevelle SS etc.
