junk it or keep it?

pulled the fenders apart today, and quite the mission that was. there were wasp nests everywhere and i managed to kill them off quickly and quietly. it wasn't til i started sorting thru the boxes in my parts truck that there was a nest in one of the boxes and the ***** snuck up on me and stung me quite a few times. anyway... i thougth i needed a new rad support. but as we pulled teh fenders apart, the bondo busted loose. so i'm thinking junk the fenders. there's a local place that stocks parts, they're 80 each brand new. but is the rad support salvageable? doesn't look to have too much damage, but i need some opinions.



it's just on this side mainly, i was thinking something like por15 might save it?

the fenders, the left is a total nightmare. so i'm definitely junking that one. the other looks to have some bondo  didn't bother to start chipping away at...

keep the rad support and junk the fenders all the support needs is sanded cleaned and some por 15

If there just the front lower portions i say replace the front lower portions since they do sell them aftermarket.. I agree on dusty on the radiator support...

the left one is rot. rusted thru all over, and since i dont weld, fixing the loeer on the right might end up costing me way too much... is 80 a decent price for a brand new fender?

Look on craigslist you may find a pair on there cheap...

i been keeping an eye out. when i busted thru the back, i couldn't believe how much old dirt and chunks of leaves came out. i priced lower ends for repair, but for 40 for the pair, and then paying to weld, cuz i don't do anything but paint, i'm paying for new fenders anyway. and at least new, i can prep those suckers and get em right in primer right away.

 Air flange tool and some body glue/epoxy, No need to weld.

Yeah if it's non-structural, then body glue or epoxy would work fine for that. That's how I fixed one (so far) cab corner. Didn't even have to flange. I cut metal strips to epoxy on from behind and then the new piece epoxy's on to the other 1/2 of the strip. Nice flush fit.

Why would anyone want to fix that fender? How much is panel bond adhesive? How much is the gun? How much is bondo? Sand paper? filler panel? If he can slap on a new fender for $80 bucks it's a no brainer.

 Yea your right, BUT how much is it worth not to have that big gap between your hood and the fender, when you buy repo stuff?

Every fender I have ever installed which most were GM fenders required fitting to the truck unless the came off the truck.  the aftermarket ones required the same fitment, a few just require the holes being opened up.

I used to work for a GM dealer so I always used original GM. It fit just the same as the aftermarket. I've never had one just bolt right on and be good.

well i got the fenders today. looking at the inside of them, i'm not the expert but they do look kinda generic. so naturally i'm worrying about having them mount right ...



i'm gonna shoot some primer on prob tomorrow if the weather is ok. it's been raining and i paint in my driveway.
