You don't want to be an electrician when dealing with automotive wiring and diagnostics. Have you ever seen the way some electricians work? lol ok now first check all the bulbs are functioning and then check your grounds. Report back.

If your blinker stays on it is because u have a blinker not working. At least this is the way it is supposed to work so check them with the lights on and off and go from there. That is if you're talking about your indicators.

when 80 says blinker he means under the dash the cylinder shape object that plugs into the fuse panel not a turn signal. i cant remember what truck if it was my 86 or 79 that did this both i know had similar problems but it was one had a ground and the other had a flash problem. i think with the lights on its a ground problem and if it does it no mater with or with out the lights its a flasher problem. or even the wrong bulb in a socket. one question does it do this no matter what side you turn on ???

actually what i meant is that if the indicator stays lit when the turn signal is turned on; it ussually is because a bulb is burnt out or for whatever reason the blinker is not flashing. don't know if it applys here or not.

well i havent had time to mess with it the past couple of days...luckily i dont drive often at night
basically the turn signals work just fine....like they were right off the factory floor when the headlights are off....
as soon as i turn them on the left turn signal doesnt blink...just lights up and stays on ....the right turnsignal still continues to work just fine....like i said i havent even begun to mess with it ....but i hope that clears up any questions on the matter...i know all the bulbs up front are not burnt out ....i havent checked the back ones....issue is probably there ....but it didnt make sense to me ...i know when the indicator just stays on it usually means a bulb is out...but why would it only do it when the headlights are on?
ha i guess this is basically the same as the original post

idk i have always found that when the indicator is steady on the flasher in steady on due to a bad ground/flasher being bad. if it flashes faster than normal its because a bulb is out. now since its steady on only on one side i would say bad ground
