Newbie looking for tips/advise etc ..

Hello all
I'm picking up my 1980 c/20 in a 2 weeks if not sooner  . I'm getting it from my father inlaw . it's been sitting for a few years , it's been driven the odd time though . It's about 95% restored just a few minor things need to be done .
It's a 454 with a th400 and 4.11 gears and a set of short blue bottles he told me  . It's got a cracked exhaust manifold  and needs a rear bumper .

Basically i'm just looking for things to watch out for and tips and tricks ... ( He teases the heck outta me for being a dodge guy)
This will be my first big block , I have had a 87 grand prix for 4 years so I'm not totally in the dark with chevy .

Just perform a safety check and go through everything thoroughly. Make a list of everything it needs and prioritize accordingly.
