Magnaflow muffler
« on: September 12, 2009, 03:02:10 pm »
87 silverado stock tbi 350. Had a 2 1/2" exhaust made for this truck today. It is two pipes going into the single magnaflow muffler and two pipes exiting the muffler and exiting straight back at the rear bumper through 18" long 4" echo tips. I just wanted to comment that I am dissappointed that the truck is pretty quiet. Should have I gone with two seperate mufflers instead? Do you think this muffler will wear in and get louder? Forgot to mention that I retained the cast iron manifolds and had the cat removed.

What size case did they use?  That will affect the noise level.

So you've already got the small one for that configuration.

I'd use a dual muffler setup.

The small case mufflers (4" x 9" x 14") were what I used on my old '99 Suburban.  It was a 2.25" true dual with an h-pipe (factory manifolds and cats) and it was plenty loud when you got on it, but mild around town.

They even make (4" x 9" x 11") cases which would definitely up the volume.

Go back and tell them you want your ears to bleed. :P

Actually I take that back.  You don't have the smallest case.  Yours is a 5" x 8" x 18" case, nominally.  This one right (ignore the 3" pipe size - that's their typo)?

Here are two smaller cases:

If you want to save money/space with one muffler try one of these, but I'm still partial to dual mufflers.
