weather striping... in windows
« on: September 21, 2009, 08:50:08 pm »
picked up a kit to do both sides including then vents.
got the inside and outsinde horizonatal channels and then window track all the way around.

got hte dirveside window done... didnt do the vents since is rquires oen to drill out old rivets and install the new weatherstripinng with new rivets...

now the window is VERY stiff while going up and down... i believe i bent the window arms that hold then window itself  >:(

anyone got any idea on how to make is smoother? before i do then passside window..

and the rivets for the side vents would be helpful as well.

You replaced the run channel around the glass and it got hard to roll up/down.
did anything get bent?  Is everything adjusted correctly?  What all did you change? (other than the weatherstripping)

I would check the track that go inside the door on the back side of the window. i am guessing that when you removed the window you may have pushed it a little too far back as this track is easy to bend which explains both problems. with your door panel off and your window up you should be able to reach inside and pull it foward. be carfull though as sometimes the track becomes seperated from bracket that holds it to the door. which reminds me check that too in case that happened.

If it is jumping out of track and then you moved it you need to "adjust" it again.

I ordered a weather stripping set online and was wondering what the best way to change the track stipping is? I havn't really had a chance to look at it, they are electric, but i would like to avoid a window sticking from applyig too much torque.
