well saturday me and a friend drove 350miles one way to pick up my new motor for my truck that i got on trade for my rims that i have on mt 82 ta. well everything turned out good we made good time and made it there and back in a lil less than 12hrs!!
well today i went out to try me new aluminum collector gaskets that i got made at the machine shop at work. i moved the trick installed them and everything was fine then when i restarted and went to move the truck the trans started slipping bad to i got the 4wheeler and pushed it back where i had it. i checked the fluid and added some wasnt too low though. anyway i put it in reverse and it went fine then tried d then 2nd then 1st and nothing.....
so now i got a good engine and a trans with no forward gears just my luck

I feel your pain. I drove about 300 miles to pickup my 85 extended cab, drove it once around the block. Got in it two days later to take it to church, got half way up the block and the rear end came apart and locked up the rear axle. Bright side was the donor had the 6 inch lift

on a good note i have a chance to pick up a good th400 from a guy at work and it comes with a fulltime 4x4 tc so ill prob sell the tc and make my money back or part of it. the motor may have a little more cam then i need in a 4x4 but oh well i plan to dd it for the most part no crazy off roading and rock crawling. lol maybe i could have the title of the fastest lifted 4x4 73-87 truck in town lol. everyone already says my 03 yukon is "that bad ass yukon" lol the motor is a 4bolt 2pc block 350 bored 040 comp xe268h cam it has a dished piston since the guy who built it was gona run 62cc head and boost it. im gona run some modified 601 305 heads on it with a .014shim gasket to give me around 9:5.1 i also have a 12" 2800 converter to go in a th350/400 trans that will go in. next im gona need some 4.56s and some 33s lol

Did you damage the pump, (not properly seat the converter) when you installed your new motor?

One time, a couple of decades back, i didn't push the TC all the way back when putting in a new tranny. That jammed up the entire engine, causing nothing to turn over, blowing the pump. .

No i have not installed the new engine yet! The truck still has the original 305 i just moved it to a dry place to try out the aluminum collewctor gaskets that i got made at work. When i went to move the truck back is when it started slipping so we just pushed it with the fourwheeler and when i got back home later and tried to move it i found that it lost all forward gears
