700r4 crossmember
« on: September 28, 2009, 09:51:37 pm »
Hello
I'm in the process of putting together a 700r4 for my 83C-10.
Replacing a 4 speed manual SM465 granny low.
Will the manual crossmember work with the 700r4?
Do I have to get the correct auto crossmember?

OK the 700r4 is the overdrive tyranny right? is that electric o/d or manual. Cause my though was a 700r4 once a time ago. But was told it would not shift in to o/d with out the wiring.

The only electronic function of the 700R4 is the converter lockup.  otherwise it is a 4 speed with 4 being overdrive.  Without the electronic connection the converter won't lockup.

The crossmember should work, its position and the trans mount will likely be different.
