Exhaust manifolds?
« on: October 07, 2009, 09:09:34 am »
Ok here it is...possibly a story many can relate to these days;

I have an 87 SWB TBI that I have to get finished. As you can imagine this economy has put a major damper on my plans and I have to reuse as much old stuff or go used if I ever want to see this thing run again. I had originally planned on installing headers and unwisely chucked the exhaust manifolds out.  :(

I've since located a set of factory manifolds on a carburated SB with salvageable dual exhausts for pennies. Does anyone know if these will work on a TBI motor? (Recalling there may have been a sensor on one???)

Thanks in advance
Gear

If it's a feedback system with O2 then you can make em work. Otherwise you'll need an O2 bung.

Just in the downpipe will work.

Thanks guys. I feel like such a peacemeal cheapskate using a used exhaust system, but fact is if I keep holding out all the best stuff, I will never seet his truck on the road again. The focus has gone from sweet ride to rat rod. Its that or it goes to the scrapyard, where it was originally intended to go 6 years ago.

I wonder how many others are in the same position now?

I'm just opposite.  If the PO could have just sold the plow gear, I'm sure the truck would/should have been scrapped.

My plow was half price if i took the truck with it.
