I BOUGHT A SET FLOWTECH FOR $120.00 AT AUTO ZONE. I HAVE THEM FOR 5 MONTHS SOUNDS GOOD THEY HAVE NOT RUST BUT IM GOING TO USED HEADER WRAP FOR HEAT BUT THE DIFFENCE BETWEEN THE GOOD ONES & CHEAP ONES ARE THE DIFFERNCE GAUGE OF THE STEEL THEY USE.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT use header wrap.

Unless you are just running down the strip and rest I wouldn't recommend header wrap either

Flowtechs are some of the better ones out there for spark plug clearance too.

yeah summit doesn't have their own stuff, it is usually just all re-branded. i bought a set of summit headers for my 98 Z71 and when i got them, they were actually PaceSetter. Even the installation instructions were the PaceSetter instructions. however they were super cheap.

I bought a set of the Summit headers and used the copper gaskets on my 79- 350. They fit well and I haven't had any leaks yet ( about 7000 miles on them). I painted over them with VHT black before I installed them. All the paint went up in smoke in about the first 10 to 15 minutes though. The primer has lasted pretty well though. I bought a Summit brand cam once and when I got it it was a Crane cam.

not trying to hi-jack the forum but what about a good set of shortie headers? do you gain any performance with them or just with the long tube type? i just want something i can install and not have to modify my exhaust but gain a little power

I had shorties on my last truck.  Although I didn't dyno it, there was a decent gain.  I used them mainly to ensure that the collectors didn't hang low.

Voids the warranty and can distort the tubes, especially on thinner metal headers.

And it ends up rotting the tubes by holding moisture in.
