82' 4x4 Project---383 stroker--Extreme
« on: November 05, 2009, 10:26:30 pm »
Okay, I bought this truck When I was 16 years old for $1200 dollars, and always dreamed of hooking this thing up. Well as most of us at 16 we did'nt have a dime. Well it all started when the transmission went out. Me and my dad started working on it and was just gonna simply re-do the inside, all stock. Well then that turned into getting it painted, it sat from their for a while. Well one day dad comes home with a set of DART Pro 1 heads, and says I think Im gonna build the motor. Well so we started, and could stop ordering nothing but the best until we hit about $22,000 later. I documented it decent for a while but somehow the pictures have been lost somewhere, although I saved some for you who like to look just as me.

I have been a on these forums for 7 years looking and reading. Well its my time to give back. I am going to start documenting as much as I can for all you to see. I hope to have the most extreme 4x4 show truck this site has yet to see, as well as give TVBlazers's ride a little competition(P.S props on your ride, I might have to steal your door panels. lol. Just cause went with that sick Ramjet we have decided to put twin turbos in near future.)

Anyways I would like to thank everyone on here for the informantion and help and support, and I hope that it helps a few of you and give you some ideas(because most of my ideas orginated from here!)
Thanks everyone from 73-87!
Blake McAlavy

P.S Any pointers or opinions are appreciated and considered!!!!

Yea its got some bling, sometimes I think I went overboard. Well I am wanting to make a more "truck,4x4, mean) look to the truck and if I put a higher rise intake it will look better and some performance as well. But first thing is to hide ALOT of stuff in the engine compartment. I got more pictures coming.

Firewall painted( although I think we plan to shave the steering bracket on the wall and hide the Brake booster and master cylinder under the the dash, still trying to get the plans)

Me looking at the Paint

Engine Covered up( you can see inside the heads somewhat, no expense spared)

Framed Painted before the Firewall

Cleanly installed Differential and Dual Steering Stabilizer

Last picture I have as of right now.

Plans-
Well for right as of now the Front is almost complete to show, although Im picky so Its gonna go threw some changes. Only thing left is to hide wires and polish it out. I think I am going to hide the batter, even though I have a new optima with polished mount. I also have a Chrome Master Cylinder and Booster but I think Im going to go back and hide it under the dash and do away with the Bracket on the right side of the firewall and shave it smooth like the other side. I need to get the A/C lines vaccumed and filled.
The entire frame has been painted and fuel cell was put into the rear. The body needs to be lined up and re-painted and One peice window kit will go in, and solid rear window and new weather stripping threw out.

Bed is to come off this week, and flipped upside down and sanded and prepared for Rhino liner or Chassis Black(not sure). Opinions???

We have decided to go ahead and finish the interior and then do the outside body work(not much to do). Sorta backwards but, theirs not much to be done outside. We have debated putting some Bushwacker Fender flares on give it a meaner 4x4 look. 20x10 XD Rockstars in black with Nitto Mud Grapplers are going to be put on.

I will list all the parts bought soon.

Oh if your mouth isnt watering yet, it will. The exhaust work...... INSANE.
After it comes out of the Hooker Super Comps. It goes into 3" Stainless that is Mandrel bent at Exotic Exhaust and has QTP Stainless Cut-offs and then to Magnaflow polished mufflers and then dumps Chevelle style out the Left and right side behind the tires. Sounds Beautiful!!!

Looks like a mall crawler not a 4x. Too much show truck to actually be used. Looks good though.

Please don't....and please don't put a visor on it either!

Also I wouldn't change the intake just for looks... you don't want to sacrifice low end torque and good throttle response.

Everything else looks really nice! What did you paint the frame with?

I used eastwood company chassis black, it appears alot shinier than what it real is. Well we don't really have a lower torue problem, but the rims and tires on it are just to roll around they look horrible. Can't wait to get working on it.

Still debating on the grille, I have a phantom as of now, but we have several options open that will look good. But I am going to put a rockstar emblem in the middle of it.
Heres what I want the grill to look like..

I am putting the rockstar 20" on 35 nittos so. It will go with the theme.
