dullie rim
« on: November 10, 2009, 12:40:02 pm »
hello all,
just a quick question i put stock steel dullie front wheels back on my truck, the problem is i have been told there is supposed to be a ring that goes between the wheel and the lug nuts. the lug nuts are kinda tapered but the wheels are not. am i on drugs or should there be a ring that is placed there like a compression ring or something.
thank you all
jim

My dually has the ring its about a 1/8 to a 1/4 thick has the 8 holes for the lugs and two tips on it (guess to grab it) you will need it to keep the wheel secure.

Yes you need the ring. Do not install the wheels without the ring.

It's there because the lug holes aren't tapered (as you already noted). Otherwise both faces of the rim face would need to be tapered in order to work on both the front and rear axles.

I'm pretty certain you can get the 8-lug rings from GM still. Otherwise try a junk yard.
