My 80 SWB
« on: November 14, 2009, 07:08:57 pm »
I made a deal for this and 3 other trucks. The other 3 (84 LWB C10, 79 C20 with granny 4, and 73 LWB C10) will probably wind up as parts trucks and soon disappear. The 80 SWB SIlverado has the round headlights. I have a nice set of the square headlight bezels, but what else do I need to put the square headlights in it. I assume I'd need to change the headlight buckets, but what else. The rest of the grille for the round lights are there, but I dont know if they work with the square headlights as well.

You need the buckets, the chrome around the lights, the lower valance / filler, and the directional lights.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Ive got the directional lights with the bezels. Will the headlight buckets off of an 81 up single headlight truck work? I can get that pretty easy, and that way all I have to get the lower valance.

Lol, I didnt think anyone would oppose the swap> I havent made up my mind fully. The existing grille and other peices are perfect, so Im not fully sure Im gonna swap. I just always liked the square headlights on the 80's. It is different, but it will also be the only truck I have with this front end. Both 76's have the 81 up front ends.

I've seen very few I like but have seen a few that were sweet. The one on the cover of cml looks pretty cool but if it were the round headlights I'd frame that pic. I always thought the square 80's (which we found out here was also available in 79) looked like dodge's

My vote is for the round. I always liked the 79' with the directional in the the bezel with the round headlight.
