Leveling Question?
« on: November 16, 2009, 08:36:47 pm »
I've got a 75 K10 and I just want to level it.  What is the easiest way to do so?  Its all stock suspension currently.

Thanks,
Sean

I assume its higher in the back, but let us know for sure as well as what the height difference is at each end.

What are your plans for the truck? Is a lift kit somewhere in the future? What is the truck used for?

you could just take a leaf out of the rear that will drop it down

No lift plans for the future, I would like to keep it as stock as possible with a touch of personalization as comfortable to ride in as possible.  Its not a daily driver, more of a toy  all the excitement is under the hood, kind of a sleeper if you will.  Just want to lower the back end a touch, maybe get the weight transfered a little more to the back.

u could get 2" drop shackles for the rear or just remove a leaf. the shackle will move the rear of the spring up 2 inches lowering the back of the truck about an inch. they are not expensive and are easier than removing a leaf. however if you would like to soften up the ride then you should remove a leaf.

I went through this problem when I installed the lift kit in my truck. After trying 3 different sets of front springs to level it out I had a friend make up a set of custom length front spring hangers. If I remember correctly they are about 3/4" - 1" longer than the stock hangers and help level it out. Once installed on the truck it would take a good eye to notice them.
Keep in mind these trucks never really looked perfectly level from the factory.

the drop shackles won't affect the ride. also if you don't like it u can just put the originial back in.
