Had a great time in the USA.
« on: November 26, 2009, 07:24:48 pm »
Hi everyone,
Well i finally got to visit the USA as my dad retired over to Tampa,FL in august so we decided to take a 5 week holiday to help him get settled in.
Had a fantastic time over there but the heat/humidity was a killer for us brits, lost a stone in a week with sweating but somehow my 3 yr old son seemed to run everywhere with no effect on his health at all..ha .. ;D.Had a wander down to Biff Burger in St Pete for the classic/rod car night and spent about 1 hour just taking pics of all sorts of vehicles.I have to say i've never met such polite friendly people in all my wordly travels, everybody i spoke to made me feel welcome and gave up their time to talk...cant wait to get back. ;)
Just before i left Biffs this pulled in,never got a chance to speak to the owner but this truck was super clean...anyone on here own this..added a couple of pics of the family.

My son Noah..

Well Dave glad you enjoyed your visit.  Time for you and the rest of your family to do what my ancestors did 240 years ago and make this your home. It's not that hot in other parts of this great nation, in fact, you were just a couple of hundred miles from the southern most part of the US, Key West Fl.

You must have quite the job to take a 5-week holiday from it.  That sure would be nice.  I'd visit your side of the pond if i could take that much time and visit Devon and Cornwall England and do some genealogical research.

I see by Noah's shirt you guys visited Orlando and Disney World?  Hope all had a great time.

Cheers!

LOL, Noah must have thought that was the most useless cricket bat he'd ever seen.  Glad you enjoyed your stay.  I hope to someday visit the UK as well.

Yeah you picked about the most humid part of the country to be in! Glad you enjoyed your time here. Nice looking family you have there.
Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

Next time you go back to Florida, just take some time and drive around the perimeter. You'll see a lot of cool stuff. February is a perfect time of year to visit there from up here.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
Its easy getting time off when your in business with your younger brother SgtDel..we run a cosmetic body repair company so i just had to say..'take over im off '.. ;D
I made a new family member over there 'Aunt Cathy' who originates from Missouri and she put us up for a few days and introduced us to Talapia and hush puppies with some catfish chucked in for good measure..i could have stayed just for her cooking and hospitality.I'll be back over next year as i plan on shipping a load of parts back for the truck so it will be a worthwhile journey.
We gave Disney a miss this year and visited Busch Gardens and various other places, people dont grasp the size of your country until they have been over, aunt cathy found it hilarious that the uk could be driven top to bottom in under 10 hours.
We had a great time thanks to the people and the odd shaped cricket bats... ;)
