Tach size and location opinions

Hello all, I recently purchased a 1975 c20, with a 454, turbo 400 and 14 bolt rear end. It has all the gauges from the factory but no factory tach. What I am looking for is some pics of different tach sizes and locations people have used. I am debating on gettin a 3 and 3/4 inch tach mounted on the steering column or a 5 inch mounted on the dash pad either to the left or right of the driver. Any pics or info are much appreciated.

I like how you mounted it lower and didn't put the bracket on the dash.

There is a factory tach in the classified section for your truck.  You would need to find a small gas gauge and do some wiring but I bet Vile could help with that.

I just went with a the good ole 2 5/8" tach strapped onto the steering column.  Crude, but effective, but ugly, so temporary.  I'll eventually go with a small gas gauge and an in-dash tach.  Man, if I ever get around to doing all the things I say I'm gonna do "eventually" I'll have a pretty nice truck.....eventually.

I'd go with an in dash unit if you care about the look. I have one mounted on my old dash pad thats going in my 75 blazer. I did this when I was 19 and thought it looked cool. Not so much now. mine's on the moving part of the column.  When in park it's too low but when I put it in drive it's right where I want it.

i put one where the empty spot is  , by the temp guage, i cut out the plastic and put the tach in, sorry i dont have a pic and i cant remember what size it is

Fitz, nice dash. I have a similar setup with ultralites. how do you have the speedo hooked up? Is it mechanical? The stock speedo cable wont hook up to my autometer speedo and I dont know if I will have to get a custom one made.

  Beastie_3  This dash is still a work in progress (I got lazy). I plan to use a cable from a 82 parts truck that has a T350/205 combo like my truck has. My speedo is mechanical and it looks like it will work. Is your speedo mechanical?
  I'm thinking about swapping the gauges over to a dash bezel from a 91 Burb because it has the factory cutout for the radio.

My autometer speedo is mechanical. I have no speedo cable what so ever and i cant find a stock one that is long enough. i have a NP203. for the 4wd, all i find is the upper and lowers for the cruise control. im bypassing the cruise control because i dont want to buy a new transducer (i think thats what its called). ive seen the backside of stock speedometers at the junk yard and the cable presses into it, where on the auto meter speedo, it screws on so i might have to get a custom made one.
