« on: December 04, 2009, 08:45:10 pm »
This South Alabama Boy don't like this white stuff that falls from the sky.

But hey on the other side i did see Santa get his but kicked today, I just happened to pull up as the rescue squad arrived. Guess that 10 year old kid that got that bag of switches last year put them to use.

I know what you mean about the snow.  We got maybe an inch today and they cancelled school.  Thought you guys up north would get a kick out of that.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow down South ;D

Closed school for 1", we need about 4" on the ground and more to come before public schools close.  My girl are homeschooled, and homeschoolers never get snow days...

What the...? What kind of neighborhood do you live in?

I *love* driving in the snow! I will purposely drive on the worst days for the challenge of it. I've driven cars in snow so deep you could hear/feel it hitting the floorboards. My current work truck is only a 2WD and I've made it through some rough roads...well, ok I admit to carrying around 4 patio stones and my tools all winter...

it's snowing just 20 miles north and west of Richmond, just not here--i've had it with rain!  >:(

I like pulling up trafficland and checking out road cameras to see how much is elsewhere....
here is what it is doing in Washington, D.C. right now.

this is a trafficland pic of some pigeons enjoying the new snow, about 90 minutes north of me..

It takes waaay more than an inch here to close school. Even when there is a blizzard goin' on they hardly cancel school. Snow days are pretty rare in my neck of the woods.
Are you just gonna lay there and bleed or are you gonna cowboy up?

Same here, I drive in knee deep snow every year to get to work because they never cancel (almost never). The worst part is when it snows during a work day and all the morons try to drive home with their bald tires and make it a 2 hour drive home.

Just thought I would mention my K5 Blazers have always been THE best vehicles in the snow.

If it rains here, the accident rate doubles, seriously. There are alot of large vehicles, suburbans, crewcabs, excursions etc, and people think theyre invincible. I drive 50+k a year all over the place, and have learned to drive in different types of weather. Never lost control, or wrecked. I know what my vehicle is capable of. Around here, people think if you have four wheel drive, you dont have to drive cautiously. Ive had many pass me, shoot me the bird, and a little further down the road, I'll pass them while they are in the bar ditch. I had one do that to me, and then try flag me down further up the road for help. I just waved as I drove by. I have helped many people who were broke down beside the road over the years, but he made him bed, he could lay in it.
When I was in school, 20+ years ago, we didnt cancel school very often. We have grown in population, and the number of idiots (alot who are un insured) are on the roads. The big vehicles is the thing around here, especially deisel trucks, so there are alot of people who have no use for them, or have experience in what it takes. I dont believe a soccermom needs a 1ton crewcab dually to haul two kids to soccer practice, but thats another topic.
