this starter...85 k10

starter hits a little right after engine fires,no shims.got a mild cam and lifters,voodoo i think.is this 2hp starter a bit much?

depends on the motor, what do you have in it?   i am also not sure what you mean by "hits a little right after it starts".  where does it hit? do you have headers?

350..grinds on flywheel.just wondering if the 2hp starter would be overkill.its the same price as a reg starter

If it grinds, you need to shim it.

I hate to ask but is that one of the bargain basement starters? I Had one that came on a car I bought. It looked the part of a high torque starter but it was a cheap version. It would grind like you mentioned. I replaced it with one from Napa and everything was fine.

supposedly an auto elctric guy in tenn. does em up,saw on ebay.i was thinking of getting one,thats why i asked first.but i'm gonna just get a remy and new bolts/shims.been a while since ive had an older vehicle.got used to efi and no pump-pump starts,lol.
