Runs great, I keep my vehicles well maintenained and it is truly an excellent ride.  Unfortunately my cell phone is shut off at the moment, but I check my email very frequently. I am looking to sell it very quickly as I recently lost my job and have no need for two vehicles, so if you are really interested in buying it let me know.

Clues #1 and #2.  A '79 bought new in 2005, and needs 2 tires but has brand new Goodyear tires.

Clue #3 is the California license plate, posted for sale in Connecticut.

And it's always wise to "hover over" a link before you click - if it doesn't look legit, it probably isn't.  The bit.ly links are a common re-direct in websites like Facebook so watch your URL bar very carefully when you get through the re-direct to see where you're really at.  If it doesn't look kosher, bail out.

I guess I don't get it, if you are giving some stranger your banking info, and your social. Then you may not be smart enough to funtion in todays society. I don't know that anyone can help you, if that is the level where you play. JHMO

These Craigslist scams are much more basic, and in this case I agree with you, but there some really deceptive ones out there.

We almost got scammed by a phony PayPal e-mail.  The whole thing looked terribly legit from the graphics right down to the "contact us" links.  Even the site we were directed to form the e-mail looked very authentic, until I looked in the address bar and saw something like http:/www.paypal.biz or something similar.  All they wanted was for me to update my contact info, and if I followed the links they presumably would have asked for my credit/debit card or linked-account info.  We didn't get that far before bailing out and reporting it to PayPal.

The problem with most of them is the displayed text of the URL in their email shows a legitimate name but the actual URL is taking you somewhere different.  You see paypal or you bank name in the text and people assume it is ok, but they have a sight setup to look JUST like paypal or your bank with the login and everything and you put in your username/password and the site does nothing except capture your username and password, and now you are compromised.  This is why all sites now have a 3rd level AFTER the password to try and protect your accounts.

As far as the fraud emails are concerned, you can read the email-- no problem (i hope you have antivirus software), but, never use a hyperlink from an email to go to their site.  The best thing to do, like in the paypal scenario,  is siimply go out of your email and then go to the actual site by typing in the URL in your browser the way you always do.  You then know you are at the legit place and can change, update, whatever.  The same thing should be done with bank websites and emails.  NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, use the email links then type in your info.   The only time i use email links is to get a coupon or something, but, I never type anything in it.

When I first saw Vile's post and linked to the site and read it and the ad said to go to this site with a hyperlink---that should cause you to turn on all your internal sirens and bells and whistles right there.   If I am selling something, I would never tell people to go here, then go there and then you may be considered.  No way! I know in my profession I am skeptical about everything and everyone, but, this stuff is common sense.  

A lot of these webmasters from these sites get paid by other websites, something like 2 or 3 cents per hit if they are directed to their site.  If I orchestrate a similar nonsense ad or site and I am successful in getting thousands of people to hit a big company's website, I get quite a large check in my mailbox next week.

The sad thing is alot of people fall for these scams.  I think that craigslist is the worst for scammers!  It seems like everytime I try to sell something on there, I am always getting contacted by these parasites.
