Doors off a Burb
« on: December 21, 2009, 01:18:46 am »
A buddy of mine gave me a pair of doors off a burb today with pwr windows/locks to put on my 86 Silverado. There are obviously extra buttons that I do not need, I have some good door panels off a Silverado that had full power. Is there a way that I could put the switches and panels off the silverado onto the burb doors so I don't have a bunch of extra buttons? What wires would I need to eliminate to get the Silverado switches to work? Or would I be better off just going to the wrecking yard and pulling the wiring from the doors on a truck with pwr wind/locks?

I'm sorry, but what is exactly is a bolt on swap? I appreciate your response, but I'm afraid I'm not clear on what question you're referring to.

What he's saying is everything will interchange. Your panels will go right in it's place along with your harness etc.

So don't try to make the burb wiring work, just get the harness from a truck correct? The door wiring in particular?

i think he is saying to use the door panels from the silverado.   the connectors that go into the back of the switches will have to be switched over to accommodate the 2 less switches. (when you look at the back of the switches, you will understand)  i did the same as you, and just left the 2 extra switches in for later use on something, like a power antenna, train horns, or something else i havent even thought of yet.
