I am looking at repacking my wheel bearings and servicing the hubs. Do I need and special tools to do it. Also what kind of grease do you guys use on the hub, where do you lube it. Never done it before, dont think it sounds hard

depends on the axle you have, more info on the truck?
i just got finished doing my drivers side. for tools you need allen wrenches, snap ring pliers, picks, and a wheel bearing nut tool. Ipicked one up at advance auto for $15
(
for grease i use castrol wheel bearing grease, although i didnt pack the hubs (also curious where and how someone else would do that)

I used Lucas Oil grease and really liked consistency of it, your last question about about packing the hubs I just put a generous amount of grease on the splines and the spring basically everything had a good bit of grease on them. the bearings you can buy a bearing packer but i do it the old fashion way, put a glob of grease in your hand bearing in the other press the bearing on the grease until it comes out the top and then turn the bearing all the way around until grease has filled the inside completly

Any good quality wheel bearing grease is fine. I just did mine too, I used synthetic brake caliper grease coated on all the spines and surfaces of the hubs parts. I like it because it is supposed to lubricate well with only a thin coating, and it is heat resistant.

Get one of these and just use high temp wheel bearing grease. Don't forget new grease seals.
