My th350 won't go into gear when it is cold.It takes up to 30 sec some times to engauge.

did you check fluid when the engine is warm?  What is the fluid level?  How many miles are on the trans?

I checked the fluid and it is fine.It does have a crome stick and tube, so I don't know if it is incorrect.As for milage,I have no idea.I was told that it was rebuilt when I bought it 2 1/2 years age.

Change the fluid and filter first.

Fluid is bright red but I don't know the condition of the filter.I just went out and noticed that if I rev the motor a couple times that will engauge.

Mine was doing the same thing, I added 2 more qts of trans fluid and it started acting better.  I'm guessing my dipstick is incorrect or something.  Good luck with it.

I might try that but how can I tell if I over fill it.

If it's not a deep pan, change the filter a refill it with 4.5 qts. Check it from there.

So if I do that and then check it warm that is where it needs to be on the stick.

Yeah.  Drain it completely, change the filter, refill with 4.5 qts, and that is like "resetting" the fluid level.  You can then put a new mark on your dipstick with a dremel or the like.

check it w/ engie warm, and while the engine is idling in park.
