I really believe that under-inflation is the cause to most all tire failures.  If the tires are weather checked than yes, there is a cause to be concerned.  This is just my opinion and experience only driving around 45K per year and have owned more than 300 cars and trucks.

The front tires on my S10 are 13 years old (they only see winter) The get washed good and put away every spring. I bought new rears this year,but the set i just replaced was 16 years old,the only reason I replaced them was for better traction. I check my pressures regularly and inspect them for any problems,every time I mount/dismount them.

I saw something about that a couple of years ago.   Turns out all the tires on the vehicles were within a year of being new when purchased, however the trailer is a different story.  The dates on the trailer tires says they were 10 years old when we got bought the trailer new in 2000, so right now they are actually 20 years old.  That kinda pisses me off to have 20 year old tires on a 10 year old trailer....  They're still going good though.

I remember watching a show that showed the way to decipher the dates on tires.I think they said that after so many years there supposed to be pulled and scrapped?? Some places were selling 14-15 year old tires and passing them as brand new..

Between 6-9 months old according to the date codes on the tires. The tires they replaced were 13 and 14 year old BFG Trail T/A's with approx. half tread or better.
