Newbie checking in from CT. some new pics!
« on: January 03, 2010, 10:38:38 am »
Hello all! I just stumbled on to this site! I'm a member of 2 others and am glad to have come across here. This is my 1st GMC pickup. It's an 83 short bed. It was primed already and lowered 5/5 with Western Chassis products! I've had it over 3 weeks and haven't really seen it. It went straight to my mechanic for some work. Over all it's in good condition. Drove it home 2 hours with no problems. I've already had installed Doetsch Tech shocks. The Magnaflow mufflers and pipes were brand new but were done terribly, so that's getting reworked. A little fine tuning, some polished valve covers, and a new filter up top and she'll be on her way home. Ordering some 18/20 rims and also guna start on the interior. Probably not going to extreme on it. Well here's a few pictures. More to come!!!!!

I'm gonna need some help/suggestions. My rear bumper is sitting a little low. I think it was hit.  Looking to replace it. Smoothie roll pan or just a new bumper.  And the  mirrors are too big! Can i just use existing holes and install car mirrors? I've seen a few done and it looks pretty good. I would love to go without mirrors but I don't know if I'll get a ticket. A lot more to come!! LOL

Those are actually my favorite mirrors but if you want smaller mirrors they made a factory small mirror too. I like roll pans myself but if you're out in Danbury you might wanna stick with a bumper. Is the bumper tweaked or it's just not sitting straight?

I'm not sure. I did notice a little dent just off the right center. I might just go smoothie and stick the rear plate somewhere... Can you direct me to where the smaller mirrors are? My other option was the same mirrors in black.   has those!!!!

I wish they made a mirror in between those two.  Those are a little too large and the smaller ones are too small especially on the right side.  I thought using a pair of rally mirrors from a Camero or Firebird, then you'd be able to adjust the r/h from the drivers side.... heated??

Oops, didn't mean to divert thread.  I do like your truck, looks like you got a good start just by buying it.  keep the pics of your progress coming.
