switching cabs from 79 2wd to 78 4wd

newbie here....Can i switch a 79 2wb cab to a 78 4wd frame without problems beside cutting the hole for the 4wd shifter...

Nope, you need the tunnel out of the 4x4 unless you run a body lift.
