The last two LS motors I worked with had stuck dipsticks. I ended up breaking off the tab that holds them on. Couldn't figure out any other way.

Is there anything special I need to make my gauges work with this engine/tranny? I have a cluster from a 91 fullsize blazer. Also, there's a hole in the tailshaft of the tranny, is that where a speed sensor goes?

you need to make sure the signal from the speedo or one from the trans matches what the ECM is looking for.
The 4L60E should have a VSS.

For water temp, you can drill and tap into the water pump, for oil pressure you'd use the normal stuff along with a metric adapter(I'll look up the part#/size). I don't know about the speedo though.

Okay so I'm wiring up my fuel pump. The sender is from a 91 fullsize Blazer. There's a purple wire and a grey wire. Which is which?

purple is power. grey is ground. Should be in a weather pack.
If you are holding the sender you should be able to see where it goes..

Quick question about transmission cooler lines. Do I need hard lines all the way through or can I just use the ends and run like stainless braided hose or something?

You can buy trans cooler hose. When I made mine I bent new 5/16" (IIRC) steel line and bent it to reach from the trans to the frame rail and then sleeved about 8" of rubber line over the steel line and used 2 hose clamps at each connection. So all of the middle is the special trans cooler hose. You will probably have to reuse some of your line or just bend new steel line, because the hose can't make a very tight radius without kinking.

you "can" run hose, but I would use braided if you do.
Otherwise I would run hard lines.

Well I got it to fire but only for a few seconds, thanks to that stupid VATS/Passkey II thing. Has anyone been able to bypass it by any means other than getting the ECU/PCM reprogrammed?

Alright, I'm getting ready to send off my ECU. Is there anything else I should get adjusted or deleted out of it besides the anti-theft?

Just finished getting my PCM programmed. The guy took out VATS, rear 02s, increased timing 2 degrees, upped the speed limiter to 120mph, and increased trans. shift pressure.
